One Room Challenge – Week 6: Moody Bedroom Reveal!

It’s Done!! I was not sure if I was going to be able to make it to the finish line but with several late nights I’m beyond excited to finally reveal our guest bedroom makeover. Before I do, I want to share that NONE of this would have been possible without my husband, Uros.  He was there throughout the whole process helping me bring my vision to life.

The goal I set for myself is to get out of my comfort zone and go bold with color design and to upcycle as many items as I could without compromising my personal style. I was able to transform old furniture items and chandelier into new sleek pieces that ultimately were instrumental in transforming the space. Throughout this project I was inspired to try several DIY projects and the more of these that I completed the more empowered I became to try some of my own DIY ideas that ended up turning out better than I could have ever imaged. Thank the DIY gods for this because they really helping me add some finish touches throughout the room that would have been pricey if bought new.

Ok, let review the reason why we started this project. We moved into our colonial house a year ago and basically did nothing besides put old furniture into this guest bedroom.

BEFORE

This was the game-plan but then I quickly changed my mind and decided I want to go darker and moodier with hints of this mauve color.

AFTER!

LETS GET INTO THE DETAILS:

The wall color is Benjamin Moore Salamander Green. If you are looking for bold, dark and saturated color this is your friend. We ended up painting the trim, crown molding, walls and closet with this color. I left the ceiling white because this room does not get too much light like the other rooms in our house but if it did, I would have painted the ceiling too.

The stencil design (Roses All Over) was gifted from Cutting Edge Stencils. This is one of the parts of the project that took up most of the time but it was so worth it. Using stencils instead of wallpaper is a great way to significantly reduce cost without sacrificing the ability to add interesting design. The gold mirror really continued my gold accents throughout the room.
